Bidding farewell to Ganapati

The 10-day long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi comes to an end today. Devotees bid farewell to Lord Ganesha and immerse the idols in water bodies. For the first time in decades, the idols of Lord Ganesha are being immersed on the day of Anant Chaturdashi in conjunction with a full moon.

It is believed that when the idol of the Ganesha is taken out for immersion, it also takes away with it the various obstacles in the life of the worshippers and these obstacles are destroyed along with the visarjana.
