Ved-Madhuri is a new website devoted to the study and interpretation of the Vedic Dharma, with an emphasis on how its teachings are to be understood and applied in a contemporary setting.
Faced with impending environmental catastrophe on a scale never before envisaged and (as we launch this site) with the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic surging around us, we believe today’s world could benefit greatly from insights the Vedic Tradition has to offer with respect to the proper relation of man to himself, his fellow creatures and the natural world around him.
Apart from its philosophical contributions, we believe the Dharma provides a system of scientifically sound practical directions for human welfare, based on an holistic understanding of human health and well-being.
Along with some introductory material, we will be posting a series of articles shortly in which the theme of the value and contemporary application of Vedic teachings is expounded and developed. In addition to the articles, we hope to start a discussion forum with ‘blogs’ on a wide range of related topics.
The site is open to people of any religious background, or none. We do not seek to ‘convert’ anyone to anything; nor do we offer ourselves as ‘spiritual’ teachers of any kind. A knowledge of Sanskrit is not necessary and we will be posting a bibliography of English translations of the relevant texts, or providing our own translations of passages where no others are available.
We rely in our discussions on the eternal message of the Vedas, the Upanishads, the two Great Indian Epics, the Puranas and the words and works of the great Hindu saints and scholars.
