As the ten-day celebrations of Ganesha Chaturthi begin today, we take you through the photo gallery of 1001 images of Ganesha that are placed in a dental clinic owned by Dr Ashutosh Trivedi of Patna. The pan-Indian elephant-headed God has always fascinated the imagination of creative artists who sculpted the images of Ganesha in different moods and actions-be it the dancing Ganesha or the writer Ganesha, or leisurely resting Ganesha, or the studying Ganesha, and so on. Various materials like clay, stone, wood, seashells, dried leaves, ivory and metals have been used in these sculptures.
Dr Trivedi developed a special bonding with Ganesha when he was studying dentistry in Maharashtra. He installs the ritualistic idol of Shree Ganesha on Ganesha Chaturthi which is worshipped for three days in the traditional way. About his fascination with the imagery of Ganesha, he says:
“Ganapati is a perfect example of concentration and that’s why it has been said that his worship should be done in the beginning of every new work you start. The image meaningfully conveys that you have to develop the character of Ganesha to achieve success in whatever you do. Big head to think big, large ears to listen more, small mouth to speak less, small but open eyes to focus, long trunk to sense danger and risks. A large stomach to conceal strategy…if you develop the character of Ganesha success will is ensured.”
He clarifies that these images are not décor items, they are living symbols of his faith and he has a habit of doing things keeping Ganesha in mind always.
